About the Project
Masc4Mask follows Gallardo (Gallo) a young 30 something gay man who is in day 35 post breakup with Aroon (30’s) feels like his life is falling apart, with his apartment (and mental health) in shambles. While he sits lonely and withdrawn Gallo decides that the best way to repair his current state is to call on supernatural forces to fix them for him. In his attempt at summoning the “devil” to put his life back on track Gallo misunderstands the nature of cosmic forces (teotl) and leads him to summon his ancestral energies in the form of Beelz; A sassy Xoloitzcuintli. Beelz pokes and prods at him, and even goes as far as summoning his ex to show him that the issue was never Aroon but misogyny and the colonial belief of gender roles boxing him in, limiting his potential.
