My overall impression
I just got back from Absolutely Filthy and I loved it. Brendan Hunt’s performance as an adult homeless Pigpen is at once sharply funny, deeply moving, and utterly fearless—all while hula hooping a “cloud of dirt” the entire time! Hunt also wrote the piece making the show a real tour-de-force. The rest of the cast is excellent as well, balancing the heavy material with a steady stream of laughs. I particularly enjoyed Franklin (whose name no one can remember) and Linus (who has graduated to stroking a blue hanky).
Whether you’re a fan of the Peanuts, quality live theater, or just want to experience a rarely honest and vulnerable performance that stays with you long afterward, do yourself a favor and see this show. This is why the Fringe exists.
