Hilarious, biting and poignant, this is the show I would force people to watch when they say there's no real theater in Los Angeles. The cast is exceptional and each character fully realized in this update of a beloved comic strip that includes a healthy dose of life lessons and good grief. The play painfully examines the paths our innocent childhood characters rushed down in the time we've been apart. The skillful and subtle direction also forces the audience to insert their own lives and friendships into the retrospective crucible of good intentions and emotionally catastrophic relationships. Fun and thought-provoking, this is the best of the Fringe! ... full review

Best of the Fringe. Really. Go see this amazing, funny, touching, beautiful piece of theater. So so good. Great even. This is great theater. I've seen over 20 Fringe shows and this is so far and above most everything else out there. When you go to a Fringe show you expect to see a new thing somebody is trying out. This on the other hand is a fully realized play. Complete script that looks to have been extensively workshopped, a wonderful cast, highlighted by the amazing Brendan Hunt who is hard to look away from, his comedic timing, his raw emotional core, his physical skills, the depth he brings to this amazing character full of pathos is truly amazing. A heartbreaking laugh out loud performance is something you don't see every day. Ther... full review

The Peanuts are grown up and gathering for a funeral. Expertly written, expertly performed. Directed with inventiveness and honesty, this show is simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking. But mostly hilarious. Brendan Hunt, who also wrote, gives a true tour de force performance as Pig Pen- now crazy and homeless, but still incredibly human. Hunt amazingly manages the crazed rants, deadpan asides, and emotional outbursts all while hula-hooping. (It's his cloud of dust, I believe). The entire ensemble is a knock out, especially Shannon Nelson, who is fantastic in every production I see her. Perhaps the end goes on a bit long (this was slated at 2 hours but ran 2.5 with a late start and intermission)- but I don't care. I am nearly 50 shows de... full review

The Peanuts Crew like you've never seen them before! Unless you saw the original mounting of this amazing show. Wow! I saw this at Sacred Fools in its first incarnation and it blew my mind. Incredibly funny and poignant (I'm a fan of both at the same time - which this show achieves time and time again) with just the right amount of madass crazy thrown in for good measure. Brendan Hunt is a freaking genius. Now for the restaging at the Fringe Festival. Double WOW! The show has been tightened here and rewritten there and it just sings. Or Dub Steps. The cast is still brilliant, the direction impeccable, and Brendan Hunt is still a MAD GENIUS. The fact that he can hula through an entire show - half the time naked - is a testament to his abs... full review

I saw and loved the first production at Sacred Fools. This one is leaner and really clips along without losing any of the big humour.. and really heartfelt moments. I am 100% positive that you will be hearing about this show come award time later this year... so now is your CHANCE to see it!... full review

I've seen at least 10 shows at the fringe this year, and this is the only one where I've felt compelled to write a review. From beginning to end I was enthralled by what I saw onstage. The script is charming and elegantly weird, the cast is brilliant, the direction is spot on. There are things to nitpick about: the set was falling down, the actress playing "Red" at the end wasn't as strong as the rest, and the theatre is very warm. But there was not a moment of the show where I felt like it wasn't the very best thing I've seen at the fringe, and one of the best pieces of theatre I've seen in Los Angeles. This doesn't just deserve an extension; it deserves a full run Off-Broadway. ... full review
