This is a fun, immersive experience at Miceli’s restaurant in Los Angeles to understand what it is like to be blind. Each table will be hosted by blind or limited vision players from the Max Schafer’s improv workshop at the Los Angeles Braille Institute.
This is a three part event. Workshop, Game Night, and Dinner, with live music played by blind performers.
We begin with your blind table host providing you various blind experiences: the experience of walking with a cane, showing you how to read braille, and other activities adapted for the blind. This is your opportunity to ask frank questions about being blind.
The second part, your host will lead your table through a series of absolutely fun social games, which you will all play while blindfolded. You will have the change to meet new people, and get to know them them based only on their personalities, not looks.
Finally, you and your fellow table guests will be offered a full meal to be enjoyed while blindfolded, similar to the movie, “About Time.” You will have the opportunity to pour drinks as a blind person, twirl spaghetti on you fork, and explore and heighten your sense of taste.
This is a great experience for groups, families, couples, and singles. The producers are theater students at the Los Angeles Braille Instute. The main producer volunteers there and has 45 years experience leading Spolin improv workshops around the world, works as an actor with the American Immersive Company, and is a California distinguished educator.
