I loved the use of the mirror on stage. That can be tricky and I thought unutilized well. I also enjoyed the threading with the religious pulpit beats. I also loved the use of the clown makeup, and the last monologue Jackie has in the mirror.
What I didn't like
Perhaps tighten the character transitions, so the energy doesn’t drop between. I liked the clever use of the back lit divider and that helped a lot but there were times in transitions I would have liked something else to happens to keep up audience engagement.
My overall impression
I thought Cylie Janiece was charming, fun and sincere in her performance. All of her characters were clear, different and well-acted. This piece was like a lover letter to theater, live performing and also embracing the natural highs and lows we all face as we change and our industry changes. A fun and earnest show encouraging connection with people. Glad I saw it! Welcome back to the stage Jackie, Baby!
