The writing was superb. I heard another audience member say they wish they could read the play because there were lines they want to write down and remember. I share this sentiment. The themes explored and truths examined are timeless and timely. I wasn’t sure how I would find my entry point to connecting with the period and setting, but Cylie Janiece’s performance made it effortless for me. The characters were real, multi-dimensional people I knew somewhere in time. The message and emotions conveyed are so relevant and powerful.
What I didn't like
Not so much what didn’t work, but I would’ve liked to have watched more, longer.
My overall impression
“Jackie, Baby!” took me to places mentally, emotionally, and intellectually that I wasn’t expecting to go. I laughed. I wept. I cheered. I’m still ruminating. I’m going to need a second viewing.
