All the magical elements were great and the performers were SO well cast! Joyce Ha in particular impressed me with her range of character and performance stylings.
I especially loved the mouse puppet, the physical/choral triplet work, and EVERYTHING the live musician was doing.
I also enjoyed trying to parse what mythical tale was being told since the production made the names a bit more general to join the trickster archetypes together as one shapeshifter over time.
What I didn't like
I do think the piece could stand with a cut or two. While all the stories were so well crafted and beautiful, I did find myself expecting an ending at multiple points that felt quite natural.
My overall impression
Beautiful piece showcasing so many innovative ways of storytelling-puppetry, choral work, physical work, lotsa clowning, and an AMAZING live musician! Every element of this piece was so intentional and cozy while maintaining a twee clowning sensibility that kept you engaged through occasional adult jokes in the tellings of stories many of us have heard since we were children.
