What I liked

I loved the way the show opens with Alana’s (Danny Godoy) exhilarating lip sync to “When You’re Good to Mama”; it’s a high-energy, glamorous start that makes tipping her feel fun and absolutely right for the world of the piece. The twist – pulling an “audience member” onstage – works really well and feels inventive, especially as it becomes clear how painful that public humiliation is for Aaron (Harrison Alec). The chemistry among the cast is strong, and watching Godoy interact with the crowd is genuinely fun. I liked the “second act” shift to the alleyway, where the show slows down into a timely, thoughtful conversation about monogamy, honesty, and, ultimately, choosing kindness.

What I didn't like

Music would be helpful during the transition between indoor and outdoor set changeover to aid the actors as they reset and dress the stage.

My overall impression

Dragged is a sharp, funny, and surprisingly tender piece that uses the energy of a drag show to dig into very real questions about relationships, identity, and how cruel “entertainment” can get when people’s private lives are put on display. It feels current without being preachy, taking a very “today” premise—publicly exposing someone’s personal life onstage—and pushing it into something both entertaining and uncomfortable. I left feeling like I’d seen something fresh: a show that starts as camp and spectacle and then quietly shifts into a more vulnerable, human story about honesty and kindness.
