What I liked
I loved Coles whole prop setup. Taping the mic to a ruler felt so perfectly functional for the show as well as the type of half asses workaround a landlord would do, like painting over mold.
Cole’s use of the audience participant was really well done! The audience member was on stage for a while but wasnt asked to do anything hard and felt taken care of so we could just marvel at someone “normal” being in Cole’s absurd world.
everyone fucking lost it when the bike prop fell apart piece by piece as soon as Cole started riding it. and then later offered it to the audience member to ride as if it were possible. Every bit of the show planned or unplanned I trusted Cole to sit with us in and use for play, use for proof of his Doofus status.

My overall impression
AHHHHH DOOFUS WAS THE BEST!!!!! The whole audience was laughing the whole time and when we weren’t we were captivated waiting for the next. Like any good clown, Cole kept the balloon of comedic energy afloat at all times whether it be with a silly kick of his foot or a realization of how silly his big blue head looked or with a tummy jiggle to satisfy our taste for the absurd.
To both mock landlords so savagely by being so dumb and full of himself and yet be so lovable and charming to win us over is a hard tightrope to toe and Cole impressed us all by doing it with such happiness and ease.
I got gentle wiffs of the beloved Pee Wee Herman, with some of Cole’s mannerisms and vocal inflections, the bike riding, and the combination of dumb sweetness and sassiness. A big compliment to notice anything Pee Wee and get to experience it in person.
COLE WAS THE DUMBEST DOOFUS IN TOWN AND I GOT DUMBER BY GOING TO THIS SHOW.
