As someone who owes a lot of their career to Dr. Steve Brule, I loved Cole Triplett’s energy. Very John C. Reilly meets Mark Proksch, meets the worst guy at the bar. I love a show that has the balls to be actively antagonistic and this does that so well. Really refreshingly unsentimental comedy and jokes that come at lightning speed.
What I didn't like
This felt like the Inland Empire of clown shows, which can mean a lot depending on your mileage. All I mean here is that it runs out of through line about a third of the way through. Again, not a terrible thing. Maybe there is no through line needed in cringe comedy/anti-comedy.
My overall impression
It was physically uncomfortable, socially grotesque and it looked like one of the central props had been stolen. Which all in all made for a pretty dynamite clown show. Had a real anti-comedy hostility mixed with wretched mania. (And I mean that as a sublime compliment.)
