I loved the scene between Maggie and the junk yard manager (Doug I think?), and Mandy’s physical ability to bounce between characters using a mask on the back of her head made for a wonderful interaction. I also thought Mandy’s movements during the sped up time lapse were perfect, and the games she played with the audience added even more immersive fun.
What I didn't like
nothin!
My overall impression
Mandy perfectly paints the portrait of a fly-woman down on her luck trying to find love and friendship in a junkyard with so much heart and vivid imagery that it felt like watching a storybook come to life for a lot of the performance. She immediately earns the audience’s sympathy and trust, so that when she started to push our boundaries towards the end of the show, we always knew we were in good hands. I loved watching the fly slowly shedding her layers as the story goes on, and Mandy’s vulnerability and sincerity shined through all the outlandish set pieces like pulling a corndog from her pants, running on a treadmill until the audience says she can stop (which she kept up for an impressively long time in the show I saw!), and sitting through a sped up time lapse which was incredibly realistic.
