Bravo! A Must-See.
In the Beginning, written and directed by Kylee Q Robinson, is a highly original, clever, and deeply insightful exploration of Christianity’s origin story. At once intimate, comic, provocative, and humane, the 90-minute production manages the rare feat of being both intellectually sophisticated and emotionally captivating.
The three-person cast is riviting from the opening moments. Each performer is fully present, precise, and alive on stage, delivering standout performances that hold the audience’s attention without ever letting the pace fall. In a smart and surprising expansion of the production’s theatrical language, the cast effectively grows from three to eight through the inspired use of puppets. Rather than fe...

Woman reclaims the Garden of Eden story that has been told about her for millennia. Director Kylee Robinson pivots the familiar narrative of creation and the fall into something far more devastating: a matriarch's heartbreaking account of holding together a family that's falling apart in a creation far from "good". Here, Woman is the one directing the show, the one trying to be the adult while Man bumbles through his newfound existence like a carefree toddler.
With minimal props and nowhere to hide, Laurel Preston as Eve delivers a raw, vulnerable performance that strips you bare right alongside her. Giorgio Rossini portratayal of the simpleton Adam is frustratingly relatable. And London Reid's stunning range playing both God and the res...

I left feeling really moved and honestly kind of surprised by how much it stayed with me. It’s one of those pieces where you can feel the care and intention behind every moment, but it never feels forced. I found myself laughing more than I expected—especially with the puppetry—but then getting pulled into something much deeper without even realizing it. What really landed for me was how grounded and human it all felt, especially through Eve’s experience. It didn’t feel like it was trying to prove anything, just letting her story unfold in a way that felt real and lived. By the end, I was emotional, a little shaken in a good way, and really impressed by how fully it all came together....

A triumphant, deeply moving production. A must-watch. Driven by an exceptionally constructed plot and perfectly delivered performances, this production transcends mere entertainment. Every scene builds intentionally, driving the tension and complexity forward. The acting is nothing short of superb; the performers navigate the rapid shifts between devastating vulnerability and sharp, comedic timing with total precision. ...

Extremely funny and simultaneously grounded. The untold story of Eve makes you really ponder the similarities and “place” of women in society today from one of the oldest stories we know. From the start it is funny and you know you’re in for a treat. ...

Kylee Q Robinson’s play, “In the Beginning,” takes the audience on a journey through the Biblical origins of life story. This script masterfully takes the viewer through a full range of emotional responses to events in the characters lives. From laugh-out-loud humor to heartbreaking sadness, from anger at God to richly experiencing His love and mercy. The play creatively fills in gaps in the Biblical narrative with imaginative descriptions of events throughout the lives of Adam and Eve. The viewer will be thinking about theological questions and will have your traditional view challenged....

The one word that kept coming to me after seeing In The Beginning was...beautiful. I loved everything about it. If you've ever read the Bible through, this is the first story you will read. Or, if you, like me, have tried to read the Bible through but failed, it's the story you've read multiple times. The script that Ms. Robinson presented added the flesh, blood, and heart this short, complex, and crtical story in the Bible. As women, its easy to glance at God and think we are less valuable than men to Him, but what Ms Robinson has shown us is that women are mighty, fearless, and vital to God's plan. The actors were amazing, but especially the actor playing Eve. I couldn't stop looking at their face, every thought and feeling right there to ...
