God. Icon. Legend. So funny. And I love the casting choice of a Drag Queen ‘father’ mother figure.
Puppetry was clever.
Adam and Eve were well drawn and strong performances.
Never told us what to think – just left us with a few poetic quotable moments that summarized this moment in biblical lore.
What I didn't like
I mean this is inevitable, but it felt predictable. I was hoping for some reinvention, like was done with God in the beginning. Especially the Desert sequence felt like normal biblical lore, without meeting the other characters. I would’ve loved to see a part of this story that I haven’t seen before.
Felt like a very gendered story. Eve at times felt inconsistently portrayed as the naive one who ruined it all and the brave one who brought them to the world we know now. Maybe she was discovering herself in real time, but at times it felt like men are right because patriarchy and this was left unchallenged.
My overall impression
Gendered feminist take on Adam and Eve with pure objectivity.
