Over this last weekend I had the pleasure of viewing a few of the different productions at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and “In the Beginning” is the one that stood out to me by far. It had a very professional feeling and story behind it. This is a piece that makes you think back to the views and stories that have been for centuries. The actors in this production did a wonderful job of capturing the vibe and essence of each character. ... full review

"In the Beginning" expertly dives into all the confusing contradictions and inequities of the genesis story without villainizing religion or God as a character. Adam and God start out as almost antagonistic caricatures of themselves but we slowly grow to understand and appreciate them as complex, flawed individuals. Laurel Preston offers a show-stopping performance as Eve and beautifully portrayed the anger, frustration, confusion, humor, and curiosity that the stellar writing demanded. From the very beginning, the audience empathizes with Eve as she is torn between pleasing God and seeking truth. The minimalist set, props, and costumes made the audience feel as if they were in an eerie, unfinished, liminal space with Eve waiting for the oth... full review

i thought it was a fun watch, really funny, and loved the puppetry. The writing was on point, and as a viewer i felt it had very strong and professional writer and director pushing the story forward, as the actors truly moved around the space that made me believe this was really inspired by genius. it felt that the research behind the play by incorporating things that are good, great, and perfect. and that the driving story on Eve's journey was a hunt for perfection which in the writing and acting I felt nailed perfection! it moved me to tears in moments, had me laugh out loud with the puppetry and witty humor. I felt that the nudity and humor wasn't to over the top that most would be able to just enjoy the show.... full review

Overall I thought it was Great! The beginning was a little tight as my wife and I were not sure what to expect and if this was going to be a serious or comedic play. Once the play settled for a bit, we were able to relax and see the wonderful story and talented acting right before or eyes. The play seemed to get better and better as it went along.... full review

Kylee Q Robinson gives us a reimagined take on the Adam and Eve story. This is a well thought out piece that brings questions, heart and humor together to bring us a story we are all familiar with in one way or another regardless of our own religious journey but with a modern lens and perspective of what if we actually heard more about Eve's story with her thoughts and feelings on display. ... full review

I thought the concept of In the Beginning was interesting with how the playwright took the Adam and Eve story and challenged it with her characterization of Eve. I am not super familiar with Adam and Eve but I like how the play did more than just challenge the story. lt talks about the importance of family, being a mother, the complications in life, and toxic masculinity and how it could be dangerous to love ones. Overall, I was impressed with how this play evolved and challenged the mythical story of Adam and Eve. ... full review
