The humor! The performance! The snacks! The difficult subject matter was balanced out perfectly with a sense of whimsy that didn’t negate any of the pain but invited everyone to experience it with him.
What I didn't like
Some of the opening monologue is hard to hear in the helmet. Maybe there’s a way to mic that or cut a hole in the back.
My overall impression
I loved, loved, loved it. It is nearly impossible to mix darkness and vulnerability with humor, and Brendan navigated the tonal shifts expertly. Especially in a piece that is based on real life experience, you feel like you come away knowing the performer you just watched personally.
