I’m a sucker for a well structured tale, and the running metaphor served as the perfect vehicle for the subject. There becomes a moment in everyone’s life where we realize just how hard certain parts of life will have to be, and Brendan’s generosity of his own pain makes you feel less alone. Yet, the consistency of the laugh out loud jokes is the most cathartic reminder that humor is the best way through anything. Loved it!
What I didn't like
Nothing, it was perfect :)
My overall impression
Brendan is clearly at the top of his game, blending all facets of his craft in a marvelous hour of heartbreak and hilarity. The delivery of his sharp jokes is uniquely him, and it was a privilege to get a peek into his inner world that you typically can’t dip into during a comedy show. Somehow the deeper we got into “the abyss,” the more we still felt buoyed by the care of his script.
