Loved the intimacy, the humor, the pacing, the way Brendan pivoted between comedy and tragedy. It felt incredibly specific and choreographed but always natural.
What I didn't like
Nothing really!
My overall impression
Rarely can a show balance humor and heartbreak so effortlessly, but The Abyss does so with such skill! Brendan crafts a beautiful show that has you laughing one second and bawling the next. His attention to pacing and tension in masterful. And the framework of a submersible therapy session is a fantastic way to disarm audiences who may think they’re just seeing a run-of-the-mill one-man show. Loved loved loved! You have to check this before it inevitably blows up during it’s Edinburgh Fringe run this summer!
