Still giggling over the Glendale joke… and the mic-drop line: “There’s no part for you.” But Brendan’s vulnerability, particularly at the end, was what struck me. So brave and smart. He, and this piece, are guaranteed to go places— I can’t wait to see where those are!
What I didn't like
After however many nights he intends to do in Edinburgh, the piece is bound to evolve, taking even more shape with leveled dynamics, and crafted peaks/denouement.
My overall impression
Really funny, heartfelt storytelling. Brendan is both a charismatic jokester, with snappy, laugh-out-loud one-liners, but a thoughtful raconteur, weaving a story that’s as hilarious as it is tragic. Felt all the feels. Highly recommend. One of the best hours I’ve ever experienced at the Hollywood Fringe in its years of existence.
