I loved the use of the second voiceover character, whose constant directives about what Brendan could and couldn’t do created a silly dynamic throughout the show. The story still felt deeply personal, candid, and laugh-out-loud funny, while still thoughtfully examining the complicated and often messy and difficult situations we find ourselves in.
What I didn't like
I loved it.
My overall impression
Brendan manages to be hysterical, vulnerable, and heartbreaking all at once. His storytelling is brilliantly funny and incisive, capturing the absurdity, pain, and profound relatability of our traumas with scary honesty. The Abyss stays with you long after it’s over. There’s something truly special—and unexpectedly comforting—about taking that journey with Brendan Scannell. A genuine talent.
