This show is so incredibly funny. Its simple premise allows Brendan to immediately draw the audience in and make them feel at ease, like we are all really hanging out on a submersible. I am even hesitant to share much more because I think The Abyss just needs to be experienced. It’s an expertly crafted solo show that truly takes you along a journey with the performer. This is one of my top fringe shows this year. The writing is so tight, the jokes hit so hard, and Brendan’s delivery is flawless. And then it all culminates in a heart wrenching story and tone shift you don’t see coming, and yet feels inevitable after the incredibly well crafted storytelling that preceded it.
