I am not a big fan of the 1-person genre in general, so when a friend asked me to come to Phoebe Ventouras' performance I was reluctant. I often feel like I've somehow stumbled into someone else's self-indulgent, extra-long therapy session at these things. Yikes. But that was not the case at all on Friday night! To my delight, Ventouras was genuinely smart, funny and full of surprises. Her staid exterior worked wickedly well with the naughtier bits, and the non-verbal portions were not only refreshing (I'm taking dance lessons from her!) but moved the story forward and revealed bigger emotional truths just as well as the spoken portions. She's also one of those actors who has a genuinely interesting face, she's more than pretty; my eyes we... full review

Smart, smart, smart and funny, funny, funny. Great show with clever humor and truly beautiful (yet also funny) singing. Oh and quite a dance number! Highly recommended.... full review

I don't go to many comedy shows and when I do it's usually actor friends of mine whom I love and support, so naturally their humor is usually up my alley and therefore I generally enjoy the show but Phoebe put on such a unique act that I have to put on my "objective glasses" on for this review! Personally her silent bit was my favorite , as her Charlie Chaplin-esk side comes out and reminds me as to why she does what she does: she... full review

"I'm Doing the Best I Can" was hysterical! The humor was witty and intelligent. The singing was fantastic, but the dancing was a total riot!! Phoebe makes fun of herself, her audience and the world in general. Definitely a great time!... full review

This was an awesome show. Alternating between the funny, hilarious, uncomfortable and unexpected, we were led through a great variety of acts during this performance. There was a great balance between high- and low-brow material, and the crowd responded very well to both the content and the cadence. I will make sure I send people to watch Phoebe.... full review
