What I liked

i don’t think i’ve laughed quite so hard at a two-person musical before.

the songwriting pulls from real events in their lives but plays them to universal themes. have you ever had a couple’s therapist that just didn’t work and lightly undermined your relationship? then this show is for you. do you feel constantly misgendered but are too concerned with other people’s happiness to correct them? bingo, got a show for you. did you ever get so hungry you ate your partner’s head off instead of finding a rational compromise? wellllllllll this show might be for you. did you ever lose your wedding venue to a natural disaster and have to save the world with your wedding party? this show is for you.

if that wasn’t enough, their chemistry jumps off the stage and has you rooting for love every step of the way. tonally, honey honey moon moon landed somewhere between an acoustic rock opera and a gay pete seeger concert.

i’d see it a third time if they didn’t ban me from coming to more shows for cackling too loud.

What I didn't like

anyway, i really liked the show; the intimacy they foster with the crowd, and the feeling of wholeness i left with still has me smiling almost a full week later. i think that’s the groom and his strong arms, holding me tight against his warm and full chest. it’s a metaphor. whould’ve thought.

cheers to you couplet, may the world fall in love with you as hard as we did at hollywood fringe.

5 stars.

My overall impression

couplet fully utilizes their musical prowess, comedic timing, and overwhelming charm in this ode to the power of love.

beneath the laughs, the well composed music, the incredible violin work, and steady guitarplay that grounds the inevitable chaos of musical comedy, the show delivers a story of true love that might make you feel like opening your heart back up.
