Every character could have been a caricature but she found the tiny little quirks and eccentricities in each of them.
What I didn't like
There’s not a lot of story here, the joy of the show is watching Regina work. Near the end of the show, she was switching between characters impossibly fast and she was doing it only partially and sloppily and that was way more interesting and fun than the previous long full changes. It made me think that I would have loved to have seen the changes. Get rid of the screen and let’s see the work. What she’s doing back there isn’t magic, we know what’s going on, and maybe if we could see it it’d be more charming and chaotic and energetic. Maybe.
My overall impression
This show is a vehicle for Regina to show off her ability to find detail and nuance in broad character work. And it succeeds.
