What I liked

I loved the pacing, the music, and the simple stage design. The story that dipped into the dance sequence felt cinematic and really transported the audience into a different place. The level of self-awareness required to abstract lessons learned around parenting serve the story so well as we’re rooting for Suz one moment, and in another having a “I can’t believe she did that!” moment the next.

What I didn't like

Would love to see this toured and adapted for television and film! There’s so much joy in here!

My overall impression

Suz is an absolute star in “More Joy”. The captivating storytelling mixed with distinctive characters – ranging from people from her real life to inanimate objects – draws you in for quite a ride! I left the show deeply appreciative of all parents for what they have to do, and I left inspired by Suz’s message: do what brings you joy. The entire show is packaged together so well – the pacing, the music, the stories, and the characters, all come together in what feels like watching a limited series. It’s a mix of Toni Collette in “United States of Tara” mixed with Phoebe Waller-Bridge in “Fleabag” with a special twist that is just only Suz.
