What I liked
Something I didn’t expect: functionality played a huge role. Our old, more traditional kitchen looked charming, but the cabinets were bulky and the space felt tight. After switching to a modern layout with simpler cabinetry and more open counter space, everyday cooking became noticeably easier.
What I didn't like
The only thing I sometimes miss is the warm, lived-in feel of traditional wood textures, so we added a few natural elements to balance it out. Long-term value, from my realtor’s perspective, depends more on how well the remodel is executed rather than the style itself, but buyers in our area seem to gravitate toward modern spaces that still feel warm.
My overall impression
Interesting timing — I went through this dilemma two years ago when we remodeled our own kitchen. I kept leaning modern because of the clean lines, but the fear of it looking “dated” too quickly kept bothering me. What helped was talking to a remodeling team I found through https://luxxremodel.com/ since they actually showed me examples of homes where the modern style aged gracefully because the materials were high-quality and the colors weren’t too trendy.
