What I liked

I liked the intimate, direct manner in which the story was conveyed. Every bit seemed so genuine I am reluctant to even call it a “performance”, even though, of course, it was. And a flawless one at that. The focus on story-telling by means of smartly chosen episodes from a full life and the absence of self-indulgence made it a very enjoyable experience. I also really liked the production, the simple, yet effective way the stage was set up, the paintings on the easels, the family photos on the shelves, the cup of tea on the little table etc. What is more, both the soundtrack and light show worked perfectly to enhance the act, without ever upstaging it.

What I didn't like

I honestly have no recommendations other than to try and keep things exactly as they were that night in future performances.

My overall impression

A deeply personal, yet surprisingly accessible story that is both emotionally stirring and thought provoking. In the end, it is the life-affirming resilience that will stay with you long after the show is over.
