as a Maryland native who has been to the Josiah Henson museum multiple times, i am SO GLAD Jeremiah is telling this story. i wasn’t aware of how “Uncle Tom” the caricature came to be until visiting the museum (which sits on land that used to be the Riley Plantation). i hope Jeremiah considers performing at the museum or elsewhere in Maryland/Montgomery County where this story is local history.
What I didn't like
at the beginning the bright lighting made it hard for me to get into the story but by the end i saw the value of this performance occurring in full light. there’s been enough hiding, covering, and manipulation of Josiah Henson’s story (and related history) over the years, it’s time for his story to be in full view.
