What I liked
The ensemble work together incredibly well throughout the entire show, with exciting groupings changing the chemistry every sketch. All the actors are phenomenal talents individually as well, with their own distinct comedic strengths. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone commit to a role quite like Clare Jackson. Zach Honer can contort his face in comedic extremes I didn’t know were possible. Hannah Berkowitz has STELLAR comedic timing. Matt Barrett Miller can crack you up without saying a word. I adore Isa Moon’s shy characters with big breakout moments. Finn Wagstaff’s vocal work is a riotous delight. Lauren Raff keeps me on the edge of my seat with her unexpected but hilarious choices. Max Murphy delivers one liners with precision. And I hope by now Sam Yates knows that I reference her performance as Mr. Gibbons regularly when conceiving my own sketch characters.
What I didn't like
I would love to see even more sketches in one show! Give the people what they want! Longer sets! And keep the wigs coming!
My overall impression
Same Great Taste keeps you on your toes and keeps the laughs coming. I’ve been a fan for a long time now and am constantly impressed by the absurdity of their new material. They are incredibly creative, twisting pop culture references or character archetypes in completely unexpected ways. They skillfully utilize costuming, wigs, & makeup to build out their zany characters. I can’t recommend them enough.
