The voices of the different characters are not in agreement about how to handle living under the threat of danger, and wanting to live out loud, but the same pattern emerges. The message is clear and devastating.
What I didn't like
Gotta get some Jordans in scene 2.
My overall impression
POWERFUL! MOVING! IMPORTANT!
I saw Black and Blue in Chicago. It brings forth the generational beauty and tragedy, and lived experience of being black in America. Jamal is enticing and watchable on stage, weaving stories into unexpected corners from all generations. Earnestly and artfully played, expertly directed, much needed show for our times.
