Christina Marie Leonard takes what could be an incredibly isolating and heavy topic and turns it into something moving, hilarious, and refreshingly human. Her character work is top-tier. With distinct voices and spot-on physicality, she effortlessly transitions between doctors, therapists, family, and boyfriends, each one feeling specific and real. Her storytelling is sharp and personal, and she brings us into her world with just the right mix of vulnerability and wit. I really appreciated the way she wove humor into moments that, honestly, could have been really bleak. Her ability to find light in the dark is one of her greatest strengths as a performer and it makes for a compelling, cathartic experience.
What I didn't like
No notes. A beautifully told, incredibly brave, and deeply funny show.
My overall impression
Bathroom Diaries is bold, funny, and full of heart. Christina doesn’t just tell her story, she shows it, with skill, style, and a lot of heart. Her struggle to be taken seriously, both medically and emotionally, is painfully relatable—and her comedic voice brings such levity and strength to a topic most people would shy away from. This is the kind of solo show that sticks with you. Christina Marie Leonard is a force, and this is a story well worth hearing. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss this show!
