The pace of this show and its moments that shine are very rhythmic. The transitions in topics was fluid and grounded. It didn’t feel like watching two people perform off a script. It felt like you were watching two people experiencing issues and conflicts for the very first time in their lives. And that is powerful.
What I didn't like
The set design at times was a little distracting, watching the actors maneuver through it like an obstacle course. At times this did actually help the energy that the two were going for, but ultimately I think was more of a challenge to overcome than an environment that enhanced the scene. What should be mentioned though in these issues that could be improved is the fact that this lead to pure ingenuity – these two created a set out of imagination that ultimately benefited the show by the end.
My overall impression
Not only did Leonardo Sidney and his former acting coach bring a great story to life, but watching the story you see that these two individuals were living through the experience as they performed.
This is a very organic show – two individuals who have very efficiently brought a hard, brutal and honest story on mental health to life, which never gets boring, never loses it’s pace, and keeps you critically thinking about how you personally feel on the topics being presented. This show requires critical thinking. Or in a more beautiful positive sense, will make people thinking critically.
