What I liked
Laural has a voice that knows how to tell a story without ever sounding like she’s trying. She was meant to perform and the style of the show fits her like a glove! Fred is a natural on the keys and creates an intoxicating dynamic with Laural that would have me walking into any dimly lit bar they’d perform in. Every single person involved in this production is doing what they were meant to be doing. Just marvelous.
What I didn't like
Not a thing. Give the people more Laural Meade!
My overall impression
It feels like Laural has delicately crafted a love-letter to an art form and an artist that feels like it is harder and harder for people to know or remember… but it is shows like Ms Tucker that keeps the spirit of Sophie Tucker and performers like her alive for many decades to come. You cannot miss the chance to hear this woman sing!
