What I liked
The bells were something unexpected but a way to make the audience feel involved. Loved that touch
What I didn't like
From a show standpoint, no notes.
The only thing I would say is to have a note or sign on the actual buzzer that says “buzz to see show” or “buzz for show entrance” or something like that. When we were outside, no one knew where to go or how to get in and we had to tell almost every group what to do. Or have someone at that door outside on the street instructing people where to go. Because there are so many doors, for someone that has never been there before, it was confusing. Summing it up, more directional signage :)
My overall impression
I am so glad I was able to see this show. Not only is it wildly funny, it’s clever, original, informative, enlightening, and well done. Laura Mead does a fantastic job of not only portraying the life of Sophie Tucker, but intertwining her personal life story throughout the performance. She does an excellent job as a one person show and has a fantastic pianist which gives the show an added touch of magic. Her interaction with the audience makes it feel personal and connected and makes you want to come back a second time! Bravo!!!!
