My overall impression

What a great performance by Laural Meade! Rich and earnest, she uses Sophie Tucker as a vessel to bring a poignant and timeless story to life. It speaks powerfully to Sophie Tucker, women, and Meade herself. It’s heartfelt honesty had much of the audience crying by the end of the performance. At the same time, It was so funny I often found myself thinking that perhaps Meade should moonlight as a stand up comedian. Her own jokes are as funny if not more so than the jokes she borrows from the performers she is honoring.
