What I liked
Actress/singer Laurel Meade not only brought us Sophie Tucker’s music and backstory, but gave us glimpses into her own life that humanize the singing legend and illuminate Laurel’s own life – shows us parallels in their very separate and distinct lives. Laurel Meade’s repartee with the marvelous Fred Cassidy on the piano adds to the delight.
What I didn't like
This show is perfection!! It all worked and drew us all into the music and her life. I was watching the other members of the audience and they were equally delighted.
My overall impression
MISS TUCKER WILL SEE YOU NOW is 1 1/2 hours of pure delight. Sophie Tucker wasn’t extraordinary performer. And Laurel Meade captures the joy and fun and trials and tribulations of this wonderful performer. One of the first true BLUE PERFORMERS. Sexually suggestive material making us laugh and love her. Directors Cynthia Ettinger and Mike Schlitt, Actors’ Gang alums, have given us such an entertaining show. I haven’t had so much fun in a long long time. SEE IT!! Pure joy!
