What I liked
I loved the songs that she performed, her voice sounds incredible and it really carries the monologue and songs so well. The way she mixes and jumps between styles kept the show engaging.
What I didn't like
As a photosensitive viewer, my only critique would be the chandelier light was a bit bright and pulled focus from the performer. As someone who was a little sensitive to lights, I felt the constant light up there took my attention away at times. I did like the other use of lights and felt that overall the show didn’t felt overstimulating.
My overall impression
I came into the show not knowing much and really loved the performance. Laurel Meade was so engaging and her energy really pulled you into the show. I like the mix of history about Sophie Tucker and the actors personal life and the singing and talking. She had an amazing voice and the musical numbers were so so good, plus Fred on the piano was a great accompaniment and cultivated such an engaging atmosphere.
