What I liked
I loved the quiet intensity that kept rising in this piece. This is a smart, reflective, haunting piece gorgeously written by Rosie Glen-Lambert & Hailey McAfee. Hailey McAfee’s portrayal both terrified and captivated me with every word and her performance is a master class for any dramatic actor.
What I didn't like
The sparseness of the black box theater was really effective in this piece. Nothing distracted me from seeing and hearing Hailey’s every word. I hope when its produced for its own production run, the creative team leans into that sparseness.
My overall impression
WOW! WOW! WOW! and her Children is a Fringe show that will stand out as a piece of powerful LA theater for many years to come. Hailey McAfee is phenomenal. Including the masterful talent of violinist Ilana Wanniuk took this outstanding drama to another level in the very best way possible.
