What I liked

The adaptation of Brecht’s “Mother Courage and Her Children” fits seamlessly into 2025 America. The script by Hailey McAfee and Rosie Glen-Lambert is concise, insightful and chillingly real. Hailey’s performance was top notch as she completely channeled a very complicated character and took the audience on a quite a journey to the edge of redemption and back. At least that’s how I saw it.

I must give tremendous credit to Hailey and Rosie for finding a way to portray this character in such a three dimensional way. It can be tempting to portray people like this as two-dimensional, mustache twiring villains but they created a complex, real person and the show is all the more powerful for it.

I’ve seen Rosie Glen-Lambert’s work before and she is definitely a talent to watch. Her tight direction did the terrific script justice.

Way to go, ladies!

My overall impression

An insightful, upsetting yet honest look at an unsettling topic that is, unfortunately, still quite relevant. This show is about as topical as it gets as this issue has been brushed off the front pages these days due to a myriad other issues but it is still important. I definitely recommend checking this out.
