What I liked
Birds of a Feather stood out as a psychological and philosophical gem. On its surface, it’s a story about sibling rivalry and long-buried resentment—but beneath that is a profound meditation on perception itself. The play suggests that reality is never fixed; it’s subjective and deeply personal. Two people can share the same moment, the same memory, and come away with entirely different truths. In the end, it’s not reality that matters most, but how we experience it. The twist involving the alien sibling only amplified this theme in the most imaginative way.
La Mano del Mono, a modern take on The Monkey’s Paw, brought a fresh cultural lens to a timeless fable. What I loved most was its message: that life, even in its imperfection or tragedy, unfolds as it must. We often wish we could rewrite the past or undo pain—but this piece reminds us that the “what ifs” can be more dangerous than what is. Sometimes the path not taken could have been worse, and perhaps, we are where we are meant to be—however difficult that may feel.
What I didn't like
It was unclear why so many liberties were taken about the Dracula piece. It was not as if Bela Lugosi was found dead under mysterious circumstances in real life or there had ever even been a meeting between the two men that was reimagined. So more background is needed.
My overall impression
J-P Theatre Productions has created something both chilling and deeply thought-provoking with A Haunting Revue: Night Gallery on Stage!. Each of the three original pieces offers more than just scares—they deliver insight, irony, and emotional resonance that lingers long after the lights come up.
