Every moment carried meaning, and that meaning built toward something beautiful and bigger than itself. I found myself literally leaning forward in my seat, drawn in — and to me, that’s the mark of good theater. The laughter was genuine, from the gut, and truly well earned. I deeply appreciated feeling cared for as an audience member. This experience was well worth my time, my attention, and my money.
What I didn't like
I have a feeling the character you’ve created would have a very colorful opinion about any technical issues that arise — and might not be especially nice about it. (I saw a preview)
My overall impression
Get the fuck out of here — WOW. What a doofus, in the best theatrical way possible. Elodie Azoulay has created a character that’s part Ellen DeGeneres, part Cheri Oteri (Collette), and something entirely original. Honestly, I think that’s just Elodie. The laughs were fully earned, and the audience was right there with her — listening, laughing, leaning in. This show is smart and stupid in exactly the right proportions. One not to miss. Thoughtfully directed, brilliantly performed, with delightful props and scenery to match.
