I liked that the actress portraying Ann Miller had her mannerisms down very well and her speaking voice was fashioned very like Miss Miller’s. The book was informative and well written. It’s a subject I know a lot about myself, so I was glad to see the research that went into it. I also felt that the “Miller-type” stylization in the dancing was very well done and the performer’s voice, while not as competent as the subject’s, was good overall.
What I didn't like
As I said the stylization in the dancing was very spot on and a pleasant surprise at its accuracy, however as this is a biography, of sorts, about The Ann Miller, incredible tap dancer, the performer’s technique unfortunately was not up to snuff. Also, I find it difficult to wrap my head around watching a story about Ann Miller and the performer not dance Miller’s original choreography. It really was the only major drawback, honestly. This performer is just not a good enough tap dancer to do the great Ann Miller justice. But it was a respectable try.
Oh, and it’s Harry Cohn, not Cahn. ;)
My overall impression
I thought the show was well put together and the actress playing Ann Miller was very good. A pleasant surprise!
