What I liked

The actors were amazing. Conveying shades of light and dark, and switching between each in an instant. They hit every line perfectly, impeccable timing. The pain, the anger, the sadness… you could feel it. Even the tiny moments… there was an actor sitting at the table, and the other actors were talking and pulling focus, and the actor at the table just sat there with his jaw set, clenched, as his character watched the chaos unfold. Such a tiny action but it said so much about his character’s thoughts and feelings!

The writing was incredible. Confident and assured, the playwright trusted the audience to understand the family’s dynamic and history without spelling out every detail with tired exposition. Funny, sad, real and raw. I was truly impressed.

And just 75 minutes, so tight! In a world where 3-hour plus movies often say nothing, this play will stay with me for a long time.

What I didn't like

nada. wonderful play.

My overall impression

Wow. Wow. Wow. This family dramedy is a knock out.

There was a Broadway play, The Humans, that debuted a few years ago. It was also about a screwed up family. Funny and sad. It won the Tony for best play. This was better. Congratulations to everyone involved. One of the best plays I’ve ever seen.
