Fantastic characters written by Pam Eberhardt and acted by a powerfully committed cast, featuring stand-out turns from Pam herself in the lead; Amanda Blake Davis as Diane, a long-suffering kindergarten teacher hoping rekindle her marriage; and Lucas Alifano as Scotty, the sibling left holding the bag of a father slipping into dementia while his brother and sister work out their issues elsewhere.
I’d also really comment Will McFadden’s direction, tuning a jam-packed story arc into a tight 75 minutes that felt like a full evening of theatre.
What I didn't like
Just a personal taste thing, but the rapid-fire dialogue of the first several scenes made it a little hard for me to drop in to the fascinating characters. The wall of words made it feel a bit like a 90-minute piece was wedged into 75. I prefer a little more negative space.
My overall impression
wtf Sacred Fools?!? This is some wild shit, with a surprise reveal you will NOT see coming. Modern, gripping, and hilarious, FAMILYFRIES will have you laughing out loud and cringing in delicious agony in the same moment.
