What I liked

The subject matter. The actor who played Edie deserves praise for their commitment and valiant effort.

What I didn't like

The script was an anemic string of wikipedia level incidents that didn’t amount to a play. The characters are cartoonishly shallow and not even in ways that suit the real people they are trying to portray. The production was woefully under rehearsed leaving the actors flailing through interminable, pointless scenes.

And then there’s the phones. While there is a disclaimer that they will confiscate your phone, this is not a concert-like situation where you keep your own phone in a locked bag. The expectation is for you to hand it over to a befuddled ticket taker who puts it in a ziploc bag, throws it in a bucket then hopelessly attempts to sort out which phone is which after the show. Who knows what happens to it during the performance. I spent the entire show worrying about my phone but there’s also nothing in this production that would justify this policy. A little nudity? Some modest gore effects? I’ve seen all this done better in Fringe shows which also treated their audience with respect.

My overall impression

I wouldn’t normally offer a negative review of a Fringe show. I’m more than happy to see shows that go out on a limb creatively even if they don’t stick the landing. But this amateurish production definitely didn’t justify the absurd and genuinely puzzling lengths they went to in confiscating phones before the show. Amateurishly confiscating the phones at that.
