I liked the tactic to couch an intense topic within an absurd and comedic concept. It worked well to disarm me so that I was more receptive to the overarching conversation of the show. I also thought that both performers gave authentic and grounded performances that helped me with the initial buy in.
What I didn't like
While I liked the costume for the performer who played the bed, I do wish that it was more of a mattress. It’s a bigger budget thing, but I think it would be interesting if the costume of the bed started out as a full mattress and slowly had pieces fall off/be removed as she became more human, then got them attached again as she became more of a bed.
My overall impression
It felt like a modern platonic dialogue on the nature of being, but not trying to find an overall answer. At times it made me think of Camus’ essays about and against suicide within an absurdist philosophy. Overall, I greatly enjoyed the show!
