There’s been a lot of great musical shows at HFF over the years, but I find it’s rare to see a show that features virtuoso-level musical performance.
What I didn't like
With mic issues, several missed sound cues, and a harsh booth light that should definitely not be on during a performance, it almost felt like the person running tech doesn’t really know what they’re doing.
My overall impression
If ragtime music was as popular today as it was in 1899, Eve Elliott would be Taylor Swift. She’s a singular piano playing talent and it’s a real pleasure to watch her perform. She makes it look effortless. She’s also a very charming storyteller and honestly, I learned a lot about the titans of ragtime music from this show.
