I loved the audio recordings of their family combined with beautiful movement. I loved the empathy of playing a person who came from a difficult childhood and then inflicted pain onto their own child. The cycle which is very real for a lot of us played out in real time is powerful.
What I didn't like
Nothing. Just noting that some of the imagery is very powerful and the subject matter around violence and dysfunction is intense, so there could be a trigger there. But this show is amazing and everyone please go see it.
My overall impression
Amazing storytelling around an incredibly hard topic. Soleil captures family dysfunction and grief in a heart wrenching show, driven by captivating video and audio snippets from her family. This is a show that, if you are ready to see trauma processed in real time, is amazing.
