Within a single hour, Soleil takes the audience through a variety of emotions, some funny and absurd, some extremely gut wrenching. A truly unique and wonderful piece of theater that asks the audience to be complicit in her relationship with her father, and asks us to think of our own complex relationships we have with others.
What I didn't like
Soleil and I chatted a bit after the performance, but this does require quite a bit of audience buy-in, and who is watching could potentially alter the dynamics of the show. Our audience was great, but there is always a risk in this kind of theater. Still, the emotional impact of the performance is so strong that even a less engaged audience could not derail it.
My overall impression
Absolutely loved this incredibly powerful, moving, unexpected piece of semi-interactive theater. My favorite of the festival.
