An incredibly haunting show-- in the best way possible. Soleil gives an overly honest look at the complexities in human relationships. Forces the audience to ponder painful questions. What does imperfect love look like? What is forgiving someone and and what is understanding someone? I'm in absolute awe of the show she created. At times the audience was having the most fun possible and the next we were all writhing in our seats, avoiding eye-contact. What an immersive experience. I felt like I was transported into a dream like purgatory, grappling with the very nature of complicated love. Soleil's performance was so dropped in, so gripping and startling. I was really on the edge of my seat following the story, which was woven together with beautiful visuals and hypnotic movement. I’m gonna be the black sheep of the family… the show was overly self indulgent - a masturbatory mess into a very personal trauma that I felt dragged into it. The clownish interactions with the audience throughout the show were annoying to me, the story telling was a bunch of old tapes I couldn’t even hear properly accompanied with very basic body movements, the whole fisherman thing with the dragon fish allegory was just an excuse to vomit some personal stuff that at least I would’ve like to be work into a real script with the father being an actual human being instead of a sad and pathetic shadow of a memory of a traumatize daughter. Forced and self-indulgent. It felt one dimensional. I didn't connect with her as an artist or her father before she was asking us to answer whether we loved him still? which also felt kind of trivial and forced and was one of the few repeated lines she threw at us over and over. I don't understand all the comments about depth here, I did not feel it.... full review
