About the Project

After her stand up show in Los Angeles, a comic settles into her nightly routine at home until a world apocalypse hits outside her apartment. She then embarks on a life threatening comedic journey of trying to get to her parents home in Montana in hopes they are still alive. Along the way she gets shot, rescued by doomsday prepper’s, learns to tie knots, and tries to find her place in this every changing world where creatives are no longer needed. However just because the world stops needing her doesn’t mean she stops laughing. Throughout her journey she copes by creating different comedic perspectives and writing jokes that she imagines herself working out at open mics. Even during this devastating experience she is still reminded that if you look hard enough, there’s funny in everything.

As a comic, actor, and writer Marissa Fennell has been performing her art around Los Angeles for over ten years and for some reason people still don’t know what to do with her. After winning multiple comedy festivals and winning Best Actor in a self produced play from the Valley Theatre Awards it was time to marry the two a confuse the hell out of people. This one woman show is every aspect of Marissa as an artist. It showcases her unique skillset as a performer while putting on one compelling story. This show stemmed from feeling useless during the strikes, the pandemic, and every time the world shifts into a new idea that artists are not worth the investment. But when the world ends do we stop creating? No. We just pretend to talk to a fake audience.
